Boone's Baptism
Boone was baptized today! He slept through church and only stirred slightly when the water hit his head. He wore the same baptism clothes his daddy wore and the same baptism shoes his Grandpa B wore. He also received a blanket from a group at the church. We celebrated at our house afterward with cake and family and friends. It was a good day!

Baby is here!!
John Boone VanderLugt was born on Friday, October 15 at 9:56 am! He weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces at was 20.5 inches long. He will be going by his middle name, Boone, because it's my maiden name and because John is Jason's dad's name, so we already have one John in the family! He is an extremely sweet baby and we love him so much we think we'll keep him. He's already eating and sleeping very well and we have so much fun playing with him. He visited his pediatrician for the first time yesterday and she deemed him "perfect" (and we agree!).
I'll try and post more pictures so you can watch him grow!

31.5 weeks down...
I don't have any pictures just yet, but I'll give a general baby update for my loyal followers --
Baby V is already 4 pounds and growing perfectly! He's a pretty active little guy. His favorite times to kick me all over are during the middle of the night. Right now I'd call his favorite activity getting the hiccups (which he does at least once a day) and he is a pretty big fan of using my bladder as a trampoline (too much information? I'll say no).
In about 5 1/2 weeks, he'll be considered full term -- but I'm anticipating his arrival in about 8 1/2 weeks... or 9 weeks... because I'm sure it'll be somewhat less frustrating to just plan on having a late baby (right). He'll call the shots, though.
Jason and I started childbirth class last night. Because I'm an avid (read: obsessive) researcher about all things baby, I knew most of what we covered in our first class. I did, however, find it amusing that during the video reminding all pregnant women to stay thoroughly hydrated, they showed a woman doing just that -- by pouring a Capri Sun pouch into a glass. And here I am, drinking unsugared water like a schmuck.
Keep the prayers coming for little Baby V -- we can't wait to meet him!

It's a BOY!
But out of respect for my son, I will not post the ultrasound pics that prove this... you'll just have to take my word for it. I'm not sure if we'll really have more ultrasounds before he gets here, but I'll try and occasionally post pictures of how big I am. Otherwise, check back in October! Either way, next blog post will be coming to you from Hudsonville, MI... stay tuned!

A lot changes in 6 weeks
At 12 weeks pregnant, baby looks a lot more like a baby. It was hard for him or her to settle down during the ultrasound -- but who wouldn't want to set and break their own somersault records? I mean, what else are you going to do while you're waiting for your organs to mature?
Look for the gender-typing ultrasound picture next!
